Low quality with a high price

"I loved these bibs at first, but they did not hold up. They were not worth the money. The bibs lost their waterproofing within 8 months of light use, and the zipper started to fall apart shortly after that. One of my friends also bought these bibs, and hers lost water proofing in ~3 months of more consistent use. I estimate that I used mine about 15-20 times across the 8 months - mixed between dinghy and keel boat sailing, and at first they seemed great. Then on a rainy sailing day, they completely soaked through the seat in about 1 hour. I reached out to customer support, and their answer was that waterproofing isn't expected to last forever, that I hadn't taken care of the gear properly, and that I needed to DWR the pants. It was shocked that they seemed to have no issues with a pair of $400 bibs losing waterproofing in less than a year. I also do take good care of my gear (always washing it off after use in salt water, etc), and I've owned various brands of spray pants, none of which ever lost waterproofing this fast. Then a few months later, I noticed that a zipper tooth had cracked and fallen off, and after a few more uses, multiple teeth have now fallen off. The zipper now opens up and completely unzips when I move around the boat, making the bibs effectively unusable, and it's a fight to get the zipper back down to re-zip them. I've thought about getting the zipper replaced because the bibs were expensive, but given that I have to to re-DWR the bibs every few months to maintain any waterproofing, sinking more money into these already expensive pants just doesn't seem worth it. In the mean time, I've gone back to my 7 year old Helly Hanson bibs that have a patched rip in the seat and cost half the price, and they are working just as well as the 1. 5 year old Mustang bibs. Overall, my experience with Mustang has been frustrating and disappointing, and I do not plan to buy Mustang gear again."

Great bib for sailing

"Great sailing bib with a cut that’s actually easy to move in! I’m usually skeptical of drop zips, had issues with other brands unzipping mid-racing, but these are solid and stay put, plus the waterproof zips are a great touch. LOVE the fleece-lined kangaroo pocket and the zip pouch on the chest. Only thing that would make these an 11/10 would be an extra pocket on the legs for quick-access gear. Otherwise, absolutely awesome bib for sailing."

Love these bibs!

"I’m 5’8”, 135 lbs and the medium fit perfectly, with enough room for layers. Most sailing bibs for women are comically baggy, but the Taku bibs have a nice women’s cut so you know you look good. I used to wear Musto BR2 bibs, but after racing in the Mustang Survival Taku bibs a dozen times in all sorts of weather including side ways rain, I’m an official convert! Here are the differences and why I prefer the Taku bibs: - They have a better female specific cut so they are not overly baggy - The long side zipper actually stays zipped up! The side zippers of the musto’s would gradually unzip within 30 minutes of wear so I had to constantly rezip them during races - the kangaroo pocket with fleece lining is placed at tummy level (the musto pocket is at chest level and i couldn’t get my hands in when wearing a PFD) I’ve worn these bibs for buoy and long distance races, double handing, in 20+ knots of breeze and sideways rain, and I stayed dry and warm. They are wind proof and waterproof and I highly recommend the Taku bibs."

Lack of customer service

"Purchased the Taku bibs. Very nice product, quality materials, quality construction. Comfortable, and good looking. I was super pleased with the purchase, except the size was incorrect and needed to be exchanged for a smaller size."

Love Them!

"I am an offshore solo sailor and these bibs are absolutely perfect! They are durable, comfortable, and keep me bone dry when I'm out on the high seas. You will adore them!"

Worth every penny!

"The comfort and flexibility while wearing this gear is unmatched. As a charter captain, durability, quality and longevity are necessary elements I require of my outer weather gear. Being on the water in a variety of weather conditions, it’s vital I have the gear to protect me. This gear speaks for itself, I guarantee it."

I love my rain bibs!

"I run a wild school co-op and I actually bought these to run around in the forest and get down and in the mud, rain, creeks, rocks, all of it and not get wet or tear my clothes. These have been absolutely fantastic. They are not heavy, they move with my body and I never get wet. I love the padded knees and the padded bum. I even climb trees and hang upside down on the back of my knees, I checked and no wear at all. really amazing. All the mommies ask where I got them."

Excellent quality, great company

"Bought for my wife for offshore and coastal sailing in the northwest - the quality is exceptional, better than anything else out there for fit, material quality, and construction. Zipper and bib system is well designed. Nice that they are unlined and the fabric is top quality. The company has been great to with all communications too. Can’t recommend them enough"

Best bibs I’ve ever had!

"My husband and I are obsessed with the outdoors and don’t ever want rain or foul weather to keep us down. I’ve been wearing the mens Taku suit for years because of how well they performance and keep us 100% dry and warm so when Mustang came out with the womens line I had to have them! I love the flattering fit!"

Kayla J. (5/5)

Bibs fit just right

"I am in love with the fit of these bibs. They hug me in all the right places and are plenty loose in the hips and bottom area to allow for full-range of movement especially when sitting or squatting. I love that I'm not "swimming" in over-sized bibs and blending in with the boys. The knee pads help a lot when kneeling down on the boat and on land especially along our rocky shorelines. I love how versatile these bibs are and I wear them fishing on boats, clamming on low tides, and foraging for mushrooms in the woods... I can crawl around comfortably and when the bibs get dirty or smelly, I just throw them in the washing machine and hang them to dry..."
