Products for Commercial, Industrial, Public Safety, and Military use often require specialized configurations and are not available for direct online purchase.

It is critical to use the specific CO₂ cylinder size designed for your model. Inflatable life jackets (PFDs) vary in size and buoyancy levels; using the wrong cylinder can lead to a dangerous lack of flotation or damage to the vest.

Why Size Matters
The amount of CO₂ gas required depends on the volume of the internal bladder. For example:

Small/Low Profile: The MIT 70™ provides 15.7 lbs of buoyancy and requires a 17g cylinder.
Standard/Offshore: High-buoyancy models (like those providing 35 lbs of lift) often require a 33g cylinder.
If the cylinder is too small: The vest will not fully inflate, leaving you with insufficient buoyancy to keep your head above water.
If the cylinder is too large: The excessive pressure could potentially rupture the bladder or damage the seams of the vest.

How to Find Your Correct Size
You don't have to guess. There are two easy ways to verify what you need:

1. Check the Internal Label: Every PFD has a technical label printed on the inside fabric (usually near the inflation mechanism). It will list the exact gram weight (e.g., "17g", "33g") and the specific Re-arm Kit name.
2. Use the Re-Arm Kit Finder: Visit our Re-arm Kit Finder tool to match your PFD model name to the correct replacement parts.

Safety Tip: Always check your cylinder for corrosion or small punctures before a trip. If the seal is broken or the metal looks rusted, replace it immediately, even if it has never been used.

When it’s time to dispose of your CO₂ cylinder, safety comes first. Make sure the cylinder is completely empty and that the head has been pierced as this ensures it can’t be reused or accidentally discharged.

Once it’s empty and pierced, you can safely dispose of it. Our cylinders are made from 100% steel, which means they’re recyclable in many areas. We recommend checking with your local recycling facility to see if they accept CO₂ cylinders as part of their program.

The US and Canada have different standards for infant life jackets.

There are no PFDs for children under 20 lbs in Canada. Canadian Coast Guard has a web page that outlines the fitting of life jackets for children and infants. The web address is www.ccg-gcc.gc.ca. The Office of Boating Safety Info line is 1-800-267-6687, email: obs-bsn@dfo-mpo.gc.ca.

There is a difference between a life jacket and a PFD (personal flotation device). 

A PFD is designed for constant wear where comfort and flotation are the critical issues. A PFD will float you, but not self-right you (turn you over in the water). 

A life jacket will turn your face up in the water, but the foam-filled varieties are bulky and less comfortable to wear. Typically, life jackets are horseshoe-shaped in design and slip over your head with all of the flotations in the front of your body up around your neck. 

Both exceptional comfort and self-righting performance are now available to you with Mustang Survival inflatable life jackets. These products carry U.S. and Canadian Coast Guard approvals, depending on the specific model.

Products listed on our professional site for Government, Industrial, Military, and Public Safety customers are not available for online purchase.

Our preferred carrier for all North American deliveries is FedEx. Once your order ships, you will receive a tracking number via email to monitor your progress.
