Brody Pigeau didn’t set out to become a fishing and wildlife tour guide when he caught a red-eye to the West Coast. He was chasing snow and mountains. But today, he couldn’t be happier with where that leap of faith led him.

An avid snowboarder from Ontario, Brody hopped a flight west the day he graduated high school—landing first in Whistler and eventually making his way to Tofino on Vancouver Island. That’s where everything changed. He fell in love with the ocean.

A chance encounter with seasoned fishing guide Josh Temple turned into a job running a second guide boat—and a mentorship that laid the foundation for Brody to build a life around the water.

Today, he runs Tofino Ocean Adventures, a fishing and wildlife tour company that reimagines the traditional West Coast charter model. For Brody, it’s not just about catching fish—it’s about offering a deeper experience of the natural world. Each trip is an opportunity to educate people about the ocean, the local fishery, and the interconnectedness of it all. Sometimes, the highlight isn’t reeling in a salmon—it’s hearing the exhale of a passing whale, watching a bear amble along the shore, or sitting in quiet awe of Clayoquot Sound.

Brody also knows that access to these moments is a privilege. That’s why, three years ago, he co-founded Tofino Adventure Camp with friend Jake Fine—a not-for-profit program connecting youth from underserved communities with the outdoors. The camp brings kids from the Lower Mainland and remote Indigenous communities to Tofino, where they fish, surf, explore, and experience the wilderness—often for the first time.

The camp’s first two years were in partnership with The Chill Foundation, a nonprofit founded by the creators of Burton Snowboards. Today, Tofino Adventure Camp collaborates with Nawalakw, a social venture based in Kwakwa̱ka̱ʼwakw territories focused on cultural revitalization, environmental stewardship, and community wellness.

Brody and his partner, Dominique Juric, also work together on Go Fish, an outdoor learning series through her company, Natural Freedom. Every year, over 60 women sign up to learn the ropes of fishing in a supportive, empowering space.

Despite his packed schedule—running charters, mentoring youth, supporting women in the outdoors—Brody still finds time to paddle out on his surfboard or take friends for a sunset cruise. His love for the water hasn’t faded over the years. If anything, it’s only deepened.
