ADvanced Airway Protection & Turning Technology (ADAPT Technology) is our latest innovation in inflatable bladder design. You’ll (hopefully) never need to see it in action—but if you do, it’s there to enhance your in-water safety. Found inside our Atlas, Elite 190, and Elite 120 life jackets, this cutting-edge system is built to perform when it matters most.
We brought the inflatable life jacket bladder back to the drawing board because we saw the potential for traditional bladders to offer more in the way of safety and comfort.
ADAPT Technology incorporates four main features:
- Bladder lobes shaped to turn the wearer face up effectively
- A wide head pillow to provide stability in the faceup position
- Baffle barriers near the chin to dissipate incoming waves to the face
- Contoured design for improved in-water comfort and stability
Shaped Bladder Lobes & Wide Head Pillow
Traditional bladders are generally straight tubes whereas the ADAPT bladder has a dog leg design, meaning it’s patterned to be slightly bent. The advantage of this is that it provides stability when the wearer is face-up in the water. Ultimately, this allows the bladder to hinge during high sea states, keeping the wearer from being pitched around by waves.
Baffle Barriers & Contoured Design
The baffle barriers near the face of the user will also dissipate incoming spray and waves. If in the water, the shape of the neck cutout and baffle barriers will allow the wearer to be more situationally aware by providing more space around the head and neck to turn and look in the direction of rescuers or their vessel.
Ultimately, a life jacket equipped with the ADAPT Technology bladder represents a significant advancement in life jacket design and is an excellent choice for offshore users.
